Truant Lit publishes work by writers between the ages of 14-21. We accept poetry, fiction, essays, short dramatic works, excerpts from longer works such as novels, and experimental/hybrid work.
All work is welcome, but we like writing that has a strong sense of voice and that is honest and daring. We believe in Toni Morrison’s plea to writers to “tell us what the world has been to you in the darkness and in the light.” Write your truth. We are listening.
Email all submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org attached as a Word document or PDF. Please include no more than 6 submissions at a time. The subject of the email should read “Submission.” In the body of the email, please include a brief bio in first person that includes at least your name, age, and where you are from.
We read submissions on a rolling basis. Response times vary, but we aim to respond to all submissions within 1-3 weeks.
We do not accept work that has been published elsewhere. If your work is selected for publication, we acquire First Internet Rights as well as Archival Rights. All other rights revert to the author.
Please note that this is currently not a paying market.
